Mini Watermelons for Single-Person Households Also Released
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Convenience store Seven Eleven announced on the 13th that it has launched various health food products ahead of Chobok, the beginning of the hottest period of summer, on the 16th.
Seven Eleven’s ‘Ori Jeongsik Dosirak’ is a premium lunchbox with a health food concept, created in collaboration with Professor Youngsil Han’s Customized Food Research Lab at Sookmyung Women’s University, a food nutrition expert. It features smoked duck and gochujang duck stir-fry made from domestic duck meat, accompanied by brown and black rice, pickled radish wraps, dried radish salad, seasoned perilla leaves, and a mini salad.
There is also a mini watermelon for single-person households. The two types of cut watermelon come in portions of one-eighth and one-quarter of a whole watermelon, offering various kinds such as 1kg ‘Apple Watermelon’ and 1.5kg ‘Bok Watermelon’. The Apple Watermelon has small seeds, making it less off-putting, with a crisp texture and high sweetness, while the Bok Watermelon is a small oval-shaped watermelon with soft rind and flesh.
Related promotions will also be held. On the 14th, to celebrate the launch of the Ori Jeongsik Dosirak, the first 500 customers who purchase through the Seven Eleven app will receive a 30% discount. Under the Weekend Seven concept, throughout this month, from Friday to Sunday each week, customers paying with Hana Card can purchase ‘Chobok Watermelon’, ‘Harim Hometown Samgyetang’, and ‘Harim Half Samgyetang’ at a 40% discount.
Yang Wooseok, MD (Merchandiser) of Seven Eleven Food Team, said, “Ahead of the upcoming Chobok, we have prepared a wider variety of health food products that consumers can easily enjoy to help them recover from the heat,” adding, “We hope these products, which capture both nutrition and taste, help everyone stay healthy and cool during the hot weather.”
