[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that Hwikyung Girls' Middle School delivered letters of gratitude and encouragement to the medical staff at the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center who are working hard to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 8th, a package was delivered to the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center. The package contained 67 handwritten letters. The letters were filled with messages of support and thanks to the medical staff struggling with COVID-19. The senders of the letters were students from Hwikyung Girls' Middle School located in Dongdaemun-gu.
On the 6th, to mark the 'Volunteer Experience Day,' the students of Hwikyung Girls' Middle School wrote letters with words and drawings to express their gratitude and encouragement to the medical staff working tirelessly day and night during the COVID-19 pandemic, and delivered them to the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center.
The staff at the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center were moved by the students' warm hearts upon reading the letters.
A representative from the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center said, "The students voluntarily sent letters of support and thanks to the medical staff, which is encouraging us despite the difficult situation."
One student who participated in writing the letters said, "I was glad to be able to convey even a little gratitude for the efforts of the medical staff working hard to overcome COVID-19," and added, "I will follow the COVID-19 prevention guidelines well, thinking of the medical staff's hard work."
The students' messages of support were also delivered to Kyung Hee Medical Center, Samyook Seoul Hospital, and others besides the public health center.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, "The letters of thanks voluntarily sent by the students have been a great source of strength to the medical staff exhausted from responding to COVID-19," and added, "Although everyone is having a hard time, I hope that a culture of gratitude and encouragement comforting each other spreads throughout the local community and becomes a great force to overcome COVID-19."
