[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Heavy rain of up to 300mm is forecasted in Gwangju and Jeonnam.

According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 12th, rain is falling in most areas of Gwangju and Jeonnam due to a low-pressure system approaching from the West Sea and a stationary front moving northward from the sea south of Jeju Island.

This rain is expected to continue until the morning of the 14th.

In particular, strong southerly winds generated by the low-pressure system developed from the stationary front are bringing in a large amount of moisture, and dry air flowing in from the northwest will cause very heavy rain of 50 to 80mm per hour until the morning of the 13th.

A 'Heavy Rain Advisory' will be issued at 5 p.m. on the same day for the areas of Gwangju, Hwasun, Naju, Jindo, Mokpo, Yeongam, Haenam, Jangseong, and Damyang. It is expected to expand to the eastern part of Jeonnam in the late afternoon.

The wind will also be strong. Very strong winds of 35 to 60 km/h (12 to 16 m/s) will blow mainly along the West Coast, and strong winds will also blow in inland areas and the South Coast.

In the southern West Sea, from late afternoon on the 12th until the afternoon of the 14th, winds will blow very strongly at 35 to 60 km/h (12 to 16 m/s), and waves will rise very high up to 4 meters.

In the southwestern open sea of the South Sea, on the 13th, winds will blow very strongly at 35 to 60 km/h (12 to 16 m/s), and waves will rise high around 3 meters.

Additionally, there may be gusts and thunder and lightning in the southern West Sea and southwestern South Sea.

A representative from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration said, "Since heavy rain is expected following the ground being weakened by heavy rain mainly along the South Coast on the 10th, caution is needed for landslides and flood damage," and added, "Due to the sudden heavy rain, damage may occur from rapidly rising water in valleys or rivers, so please be especially careful about safety accidents."
