Contactless Drive-Thru Refueling Becomes Available from Seoul to Jeju

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The era of contactless drive-thru refueling has opened nationwide, from Seoul to Jeju.

Owin, the largest mobile refueling platform company in Korea, has expanded its Owin service to Jeju Island, enabling the use of Owin's drive-thru refueling service nationwide.

This is the first time that a contactless drive-thru refueling service is being implemented in Jeju. Especially with the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), it is expected that the largest number of travelers will flock to Jeju this summer. The introduction of Owin's mobile refueling service is expected to provide a safe and fresh car-commerce experience not only for Jeju residents but also for tourists.

First, Owin's first service location in Jeju, GS Caltex Samda Gas Station (7873 Iljuseo-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju), is located 2.8 km, about 5 minutes from Jeju Airport, making it an optimal gas station for travelers using rental cars to refuel quickly and conveniently before returning their vehicles. Starting with Samda Gas Station, Owin plans to sequentially expand its drive-thru refueling service to 48 GS Caltex gas stations across Jeju Island.

With the introduction of the Owin service, the problem of increased refueling wait times due to the rise in vacation vehicles is also expected to be resolved. During busy times when rental car returns peak, using the Owin app can reduce the average refueling time per vehicle to 2 minutes and 30 seconds, cutting the time by 50% compared to before. The faster refueling cycle reduces waiting times, improves service quality, and aims to increase sales.

Additionally, using the Owin app provides a constant discount of 20 KRW per liter, allowing users to save on fuel costs.

Owin is a COVID-19 safe contactless refueling app that offers a one-stop service from comparing prices at nearby gas stations to booking and payment through a single mobile app. There is no need to roll down the car window to explain to gas station staff or exchange cards for payment. If users register their credit card with the greatest benefits, mileage rewards and automatic payment are applied simultaneously, and final payment details can be checked in real-time on the mobile screen without receiving a paper receipt. Credit cards from Shinhan, Kookmin, Lotte, as well as NH Nonghyup, BC, IBK Industrial Bank, Woori, and Citi can be used.

Meanwhile, having expanded to nationwide service, Owin will hold its first online investor relations (IR) briefing. In line with the COVID-19 situation, the briefing will be conducted online and contactlessly, featuring explanations of Owin's major business status and sharing of corporate vision. Participation in Owin's corporate briefing can be applied for by calling the main number (02-3482-4155), and from the 15th of this month, online applications and detailed schedules can be checked on the Owin website.
