[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] The Jeonbuk Future Education Research Institute is taking steps to explore a new direction for Jeonbuk education suitable for the post-COVID-19 era.
According to the Jeonbuk Future Education Research Institute on the 12th, the first session of the Future Education Forum series (3rd session) titled "COVID-19, Awakening Korea's Dormant Education" will open on the 14th at 5 p.m. at the Mind Research Hall of Jeonju National University of Education.
The keynote presentation of this forum will be delivered by Kang Min-jung, a member of the Open Democratic Party and former classroom teacher, starting with the theme "Post-COVID-19 Future Education, Where Should We Go?"
The detailed discussion topics include ▲ Directions and tasks of COVID-19 education ▲ College entrance and academic achievement in the Jeonbuk region ▲ Democratic citizenship education ▲ Social safety net (ecological environment in education due to climate change, child abuse, violence, safety during commuting to and from school, etc.) ▲ Educational gaps and inequality in education ▲ Support measures for vulnerable groups in COVID-19 education.
Additionally, related talks and discussions led by Professor Cheon Ho-seong of the Department of Social Education at Jeonju National University of Education will include participants such as Assemblywoman Kang Min-jung, teacher Oh Dong-seon (Irigo Gohyeon Elementary School), student Chae Geon (Kimje Girls' High School, 3rd year), parent Song Se-hyun, student Kim Chan (Jeonju National University of Education, 3rd year, Vice President of the Student Council), and student Jo Chang-seok (Gyeongsang National University, 2nd year).
The forum will discuss a comprehensive diagnosis of Korean education, evaluations and assessments of future Jeonbuk education, and directions, with parents and students directly proposing educational policies and legislative initiatives.
Professor Cheon Ho-seong said, "I hope this will be a valuable time as a starting point to find the future direction and alternatives for Korean education, especially Jeonbuk education, after COVID-19," adding, "We will begin a long journey to pioneer a new path of education in the post-COVID-19 era, breaking away from the existing educational ecosystem."
