[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Hyesoo] On the afternoon of the 11th, Nam Sang-il and Kim Taeyeon won the final championship of the 2020 King of Kings Tournament on KBS2's 'Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend' (hereafter 'Immortal Songs').
On this day, 'Immortal Songs' aired the second part of the 2020 first half King of Kings Tournament, following last week. The broadcast featured performances by Jo Myung-seop, Min Woo-hyuk, Yoyomi, Yuk Joong-wan Band, Nam Sang-il & Kim Taeyeon, and Kim Ho-joong.
The first stage was Jo Myung-seop performing Hyunmi's 'When Leaving, Without a Word.' Jo Myung-seop, famous for making Joo Hyun-mi cry in the 'Joo Hyun-mi episode,' explained his choice of Hyunmi's song by saying, "The musical aspects fit well." He also expressed, "I hope this gives strength to everyone."
The second stage was musical actor Min Woo-hyuk challenging with Next's 'Lazenca, Save Us.' Min Woo-hyuk revealed his passion, saying, "I actually lost 8kg for this stage," and "I almost created a script for the stage. I stayed up all night writing the scenario and explained it to the staff one by one." As a result, Min Woo-hyuk defeated Jo Myung-seop and earned his first win.
The next stage was Yoyomi. Choosing Na Hoon-a's 'Weed,' Yoyomi said, "I have shown a cheerful side a lot until now, but all my chameleon-like charms are in this song 'Weed,'" and added, "There is also some personal talent. I like dancing." However, Yoyomi's chameleon charm could not beat Min Woo-hyuk's grand stage. Thus, Min Woo-hyuk took his second win.

The fourth stage was taken by Yuk Joong-wan Band. The band selected Seo Taiji and Boys' 'I Know,' sharing an anecdote: "When I was in middle school, a friend brought a big cassette player on a field trip and played this song while dancing, which left a strong impression." Yuk Joong-wan Band, perfectly embodying Seo Taiji and Boys' mischievous outfits, succeeded in defeating Min Woo-hyuk and earned a win.
The fifth stage was Nam Sang-il & Kim Taeyeon's performance. Kim Taeyeon said the special trophy for the King of Kings Tournament was very pretty and confessed, "I really want it." Kim Taeyeon, who specially prepared tear acting, was praised by Nam Sang-il, who confidently said, "You can look forward to it." Presenting the 'Sim Bong-sa opens his eyes' part from the pansori 'Simcheongga' and Chae Gyu-yeop's 'Song of Hope,' Nam Sang-il & Kim Taeyeon defeated Yuk Joong-wan Band and earned a win.
The last stage was Kim Ho-joong performing Cho Yong-pil's 'Biryun.' Kim Ho-joong said, "This is a song I have always wanted to sing on a big stage someday. I arranged the famous 'praying' part a little differently, reciting it as a story." The judging panel admired Kim Ho-joong's vocal skills, perfectly interpreting the song of the king Cho Yong-pil.
However, the final winner of the 2020 first half King of Kings Tournament Part 2 went to the gugak duo Nam Sang-il & Kim Taeyeon.
KBS2's 'Immortal Songs' airs every Saturday at 6:05 PM.
