The Top Card by Credit Card Company in the First Half of This Year: "Mujogeon Card"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] In the first half of this year, 'unconditional cards' that provide benefits without any previous month’s spending requirements gained popularity, according to a recent survey.


On the 11th, Card Gorilla, the largest credit card specialist site in Korea, announced the '2020 First Half Year-End Ranking of Top Credit Cards by Card Company,' revealing that among the top cards of eight card companies, four were unconditional cards.


The rankings were based on the number of views and application conversions for each card product on the Card Gorilla website (PC and mobile combined) from January 1 to June 30 of this year.


Shinhan Card’s number one was the 'Deep Dream' card. It is an unconditional card that offers up to 3.5% rewards on spending without requiring previous month’s spending. It ranked second in the overall first half-year summary. Shinhan Card’s second place was 'Mr. Life,' and third was 'Hi-Point.'


KB Kookmin Card’s top card was the 'Tantandae-ro Miz & Mr Titanium Card.' It offers balanced benefits not only in frequently used daily categories but also in special areas such as wedding services, golf, and food delivery. It ranked third in the first half-year summary. KB Kookmin Card’s second place was 'Cheongchun-daero Toktok Card,' and third was 'Tantandae-ro Biz Titanium Card.'


Samsung Card’s number one was 'taptap O.' It offers up to 50% discount at Starbucks and allows users to change coffee and shopping benefit packages monthly. It ranked fourth in the first half-year summary. Samsung Card’s second place was 'Samsung Card & Mileage Platinum (SKYPASS),' and third was 'Samsung Card 4V3.'


Hyundai Card’s top card was 'Hyundai Card Zero (Discount Type).' It provides 0.7% discount at all merchants without previous month’s spending or discount limit restrictions, plus an additional 0.5% discount in essential daily categories. It ranked sixth in the first half-year summary. Hyundai Card’s second place was 'Hyundai Card Zero (Point Type),' and third was 'Hyundai Card M Edition 3.'


Lotte Card’s number one was 'Likit Fun.' It offers high discounts in essential daily categories such as 50% off coffee, 50% off movies, and 20% off public transportation. It ranked first in the first half-year summary. Lotte Card’s second place was 'Likit All,' and third was 'Likit On.'


Woori Card’s top card was 'DA@ Card’s Jeongseok.' It provides 0.8% discount at all merchants and an additional 0.5% discount in daily business sectors without previous month’s spending or discount limits. It ranked fifth in the first half-year summary. Woori Card’s second place was 'Card’s Jeongseok WeBe On Plus,' and third was 'Only My Card.'


Hana Card’s number one was '1Q Daily+.' It offers up to 1% daily rewards on domestic merchant spending without previous month’s spending or reward limits. It ranked seventeenth in the first half-year summary. Hana Card’s second place was 'Everyone’s Shopping,' and third was 'Simple Life.'


NH Nonghyup Card’s top card was 'NH All One Pie Card.' It provides up to 20% discount combining online shopping and selected sectors, and 20% discount at Starbucks. It ranked seventh in the first half-year summary. NH Nonghyup Card’s second place was 'NH20 Haebom Card,' and third was 'Take 5 Card.'


Ko Seung-hoon, CEO of Card Gorilla, said, "Among the top cards of eight card companies, four were unconditional cards that offer benefits without previous month’s spending conditions," adding, "Cards offering 50% coffee discounts were also very popular."
