[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Heavy rains concentrated in Japan have resulted in 66 deaths and 16 missing persons over the past week.


According to local media such as NHK on the 11th, more than 10,000 houses were flooded and about 3,600 people evacuated due to heavy rains centered on Kyushu. Over the past week, the death toll reached 66, with 16 people still missing.


Due to this heavy rain, heavy rain warnings were issued in seven prefectures including Kumamoto, Kagoshima, and Fukuoka. In particular, in Kumamoto Prefecture, where rivers overflowed and landslides occurred, 60 people died and 9 are missing.
