[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Go Dallyeong] Jangsu-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 10th that it will cancel the 4th Beonam Mulbit Festival, which celebrates water in midsummer at Mulbit Park in Beonam-myeon, due to COVID-19.
The Beonam Mulbit Festival Promotion Committee held a meeting and made the final decision to cancel the 4th Beonam Mulbit Festival, which was scheduled to be held from August 7 to 8.
Im Jeongtaek, the festival chairman, said, “It is regrettable to inevitably cancel the 4th Beonam Mulbit Festival to prevent infections and ensure safety in the region as the spread of COVID-19 has not subsided and future trends are difficult to predict. We will continue to prepare diligently to make it a better festival in the future.”
Meanwhile, the Beonam Mulbit Festival is a community harmony festival themed around ‘water,’ a major resource of Beonam-myeon. It is filled with abundant events such as water play facilities, treasure hunts in the stream, and underwater tug-of-war. At the 3rd Beonam Mulbit Festival in 2019, it attracted about 3,000 visitors, establishing itself as a capable local festival.
