Effectiveness of Securing the 'Golden Time' in Fire Initial Response Vulnerable Areas
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 10th that it will install 424 'Alleyway Fire Extinguisher Boxes' by the end of the year in alleyways where initial fire response is weak.
The alleyway fire extinguisher boxes are installed in densely populated residential areas where fire trucks have difficulty entering or where fire hydrants are not installed.
They are installed at 30-meter intervals for easy use by residents and equipped with phosphorescent signs to be easily found even at night.
In addition, promotional activities will be conducted targeting nearby residents to educate them on how to use fire extinguishers and inform them of the installation locations.
The alleyway fire extinguisher boxes can be installed anywhere regardless of location, and anyone can easily use them by opening the front of the box with a transparent window, enabling rapid response to initial fire outbreaks.
Each box consists of one fire extinguisher box and two 3.3 kg powder fire extinguishers. There are wall-mounted types that attach to walls or fences and stand types that can be placed on the ground.
Chief Ma Jaeyoon said, “In places where fire trucks cannot quickly enter, one fire extinguisher has the effect equivalent to one fire truck in the early stages of a fire,” and added, “If residents actively use the alleyway fire extinguishers by familiarizing themselves with the location and usage of fire extinguishers, significant damage can be prevented.”
