[Asia Economy Reporters Kim Hyemin and Jeon Jinyoung] Kim Hyung-o, former Future United Party nomination committee chairman, visited the late Park Won-soon’s funeral hall on the 10th and said, "The person who repeatedly contacted me saying he would meet soon has left us so suddenly, and the shock is immense."
Kim visited the late mayor’s funeral hall set up at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon and told reporters, "He called me a few days ago, and we talked."
He described the deceased as "a person who defined an era." Kim added, "He lived diligently. I believe he had exceptional love and concern for minorities, the weak, and those in hardship. I trust that he will rest peacefully in the afterlife, and that the next generation will carry on his will and passion to contribute to building a better country."
He also conveyed to the bereaved family that "the responsibility and duty to achieve what the deceased could not accomplish have been entrusted to them."
When asked about the sexual harassment allegations, Kim responded, "I have no knowledge of that, so I cannot comment," and drew a line by saying, "I don’t think it is appropriate to discuss such matters at the deceased’s funeral hall."
