Heo Seok, Suncheon Mayor, and Jeong Jae-sook, Cultural Heritage Administration Commissioner, are touring Nagan Eupseong.
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City announced on the 10th that it conducted resident safety education and a national safety inspection at Nagan Eupseong, organized by the Cultural Heritage Administration.
The event was attended by Suncheon Mayor Heo Seok and Cultural Heritage Administration Commissioner Jeong Jae-sook, who also took time to listen to residents' opinions. Nagan Eupseong is designated as Historic Site No. 302 and consists of over 300 thatched-roof houses densely packed together, making it structurally vulnerable to fire, so initial response in case of disaster is crucial.
The resident safety education held that day was designed in a play format to make it easy for residents to understand, covering actions to take during disasters, examples of electrical and gas accidents, and how to use them.
Additionally, with the cooperation of the 119 Nagan Regional Unit, a joint firefighting drill was conducted including facility inspections for the national safety diagnosis in the cultural heritage sector, fire suppression, and evacuation training, along with demonstrations on how to use disaster prevention equipment.
Meanwhile, Mayor Heo Seok and Commissioner Jeong Jae-sook, who attended the education event, held a residents' meeting, during which the Cultural Heritage Administration expressed a positive intention to consider proposals made by Suncheon City such as the ‘Nagan Eupseong ICT-based Smart Village Construction Project’ and the ‘Underground Power Line Maintenance Project within the Eupseong’.
