[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ki-woon] Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced on the 10th that it was selected as the 'Best Water Management Institution' at the 28th Water Management Symposium in 2020.
The award ceremony was held at the Jeju International Convention Center, where the Water Management Symposium took place from the 6th to the 8th, hosted by the National Assembly Environment Forum and the Ministry of Environment.
The Sinan-gun Water and Sewage Business Office was recognized for its contribution to providing improved water management services to island residents and advancing the domestic water industry.
Sinan-gun is preparing for drought by upgrading 14 seawater desalination facilities through the island drinking water source development project and is supplying stable and clean tap water to residents of remote islands.
In particular, since 2017, it has been promoting the local water supply modernization project, planning to replace 56 km of aging pipelines and achieve a water loss rate of 85%, thereby supplying residents with clean and high-quality tap water.
Park Woo-ryang, Governor of Sinan-gun, said, "This award is the result of providing residents with stable and high-quality tap water despite the geographical conditions of remote islands," and added, "We will continue to strive to secure operational personnel and expertise in the water supply sector and develop into a nationally representative water management institution."
