On the 9th (local time), ABC News reported that Park's daughter filed a missing person report after he made remarks that could be considered a will and then disappeared. ABC explained that Park went missing amid allegations of sexual harassment.
The New York Times also reported that Park disappeared after canceling his scheduled appointments that day, introducing him as one of the leading presidential candidates and a key figure in Seoul's COVID-19 response efforts.
Fox News reported that the police are searching for Mayor Park, and Seoul city officials stated that Park canceled his scheduled appointments that day without any special reason. Fox News added that Park, a former human rights lawyer, began his third term as mayor in 2018.
CNN also reported that an official confirmed a missing person report had been filed for Mayor Park and that the police had launched a search operation. CNN cited a police official confirming that Park's daughter filed the missing person report around 5 p.m. that day.
The Washington Post reported that more than three hours had passed since the police began searching for Mayor Park, but his whereabouts remain unknown, noting that he made remarks that could be seen as a will before disappearing.
