[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced that from the 16th to the 18th, every evening at 8 PM, it will hold a new concept live performance enjoyed from inside cars, "Cheer Up Daegu! Drive-in Cine × Concert," at the outdoor special stage of Palgongsan Drive-in Theater 'Cine80.' Admission is free.
This event is a unique concert organized by Daegu City in a drive-in theater format, allowing citizens exhausted by COVID-19 to enjoy high-quality cultural performances from inside their cars.
The program consists of 60 minutes of cultural performances and 120 minutes of movie screenings, providing attendees a special opportunity to watch live performances and the latest released films, according to Daegu City.
The cultural performances include various genres such as opera gala, musical gala, fusion gugak (traditional Korean music), and modern rock. The 'Daegu Opera Choir,' planned by Daegu Opera House, will present familiar melodies by selecting famous opera arias such as "Toreador Song" (Carmen) and "Nessun Dorma" (Turandot).
In particular, the musical gala show "DIMF & Min Woo-hyuk," performed on the 18th, is a special musical number recital prepared by the famous musical actor Min Woo-hyuk together with next-generation musical stars.
Only about 200 pre-reserved vehicles per session will be allowed entry. Reservation vehicles will be selected through a random draw after mobile applications are received from citizens experiencing psychological difficulties due to COVID-19, exemplary participants in quarantine activities, and general citizens. General citizens will be notified on the 13th after prior application.
Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin said, "I hope this special memory of watching a performance from a car will provide a healing time to temporarily relieve worries."
