50s Man Who Assaulted 119 Rescuers Dispatched After Report in Daejeon Sentenced to Prison In March, Mr. A in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, committed violence against 119 paramedics who came to the scene to assist him. [Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A man in his 50s who verbally abused and assaulted a 119 paramedic dispatched to the scene was sentenced to prison.


On the 9th, according to Daejeon City, the Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 7 sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted for violating the Fire Services Act (obstruction of fire-fighting activities), to 8 months in prison with a 2-year probation period.


In March, the Daedeok Fire Station received a report that Mr. A was intoxicated and unable to control his body in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, and dispatched 119 paramedics to the scene.


However, Mr. A is accused of verbally abusing and assaulting the 119 paramedics who were dispatched to rescue him.


A Daedeok Fire Station official stated, "Verbal abuse and assault against firefighters who protect citizens' safety to secure the social safety net is an illegal act that obstructs legitimate fire-fighting activities and must be eradicated."
