[Express Train - Episode 93] Ecobio Produces Hydrogen by Refining Landfill Gas

Ecobio operates a business that converts biogas generated from landfills, organic waste treatment facilities, and sewage treatment plants into energy. It is also promoting environmental plant projects and bio-sulfur businesses.

Bio-sulfur is a hydrophilic substance with a particle size of less than 10μm that dissolves well in water. It has fertilizer effects and also helps manage pests and diseases such as powdery mildew and aphids. Due to its near-neutral characteristic with a pH of 8.5, when applied to crop cultivation, it can control pests and diseases without harming plants, thus serving as a substitute for crop protection agents (pesticides). It is produced by dissolving hydrogen sulfide gas into a liquid and then deriving it from the metabolic products of microorganisms that use it as a food source.

Since 2017, Ecobio has been operating the Sangam Hydrogen Station, which produces hydrogen by refining landfill gas and charges hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Patent attorney Eom Jeonghan from BLT Patent Law Firm reviewed Ecobio’s patent and trademark application status.

Listed companies on the domestic stock market disclose patent acquisition information through the Financial Supervisory Service’s electronic disclosure system. However, many stock investors tend to overlook patent disclosures.

Not only patents but also trademark registrations serve as important indicators for understanding future corporate value, as they signal the direction a listed company is heading. Some patent disclosures even act as direct triggers for stock price increases.

It is not easy for general investors to assess the impact on companies through patent disclosures or to check trademark application statuses one by one. Asia Economy, together with patent attorney Eom Jeonghan from BLT Patent Law Firm, is reviewing the patent and trademark application statuses of listed companies through the 'Express Train' program.

'Express Train' is an abbreviation for a broadcast that diligently searches for rapidly rising stocks through patents.
