Gyeonggi Fire Department, Fire Station Chiefs Undertake 'Command Capability Enhancement Training'

[Asia Economy (Gunpo) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct command capability enhancement training three times by the 22nd of this month for fire station chiefs in the jurisdiction.

On the 8th, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 9th that it held the first command capability enhancement training for 11 fire station chiefs in the province at the Gyeonggi Fire School's On-site Command Capability Center (CICT) located in Gunpo.

This training was prepared to strengthen on-site response capabilities for recent large-scale fires such as the Icheon logistics center fire.

The training consisted of command theory including fire command and on-site command control systems, virtual environment (VE) simulation practice, and training review and evaluation.

Starting with this education on the day, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters will conduct a total of three training sessions by the 22nd. All 35 fire station chiefs in the province will participate in this training.

This training will be reflected in the evaluation elements of the on-site commander certification system to be implemented by the National Fire Agency next year.

The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters operates the third specialized education institution for on-site commanders (On-site Command Capability Center) nationwide, following the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters and the Central Fire Academy. In the second half of last year, command training was conducted 43 times for 673 people including fire station emergency rescue commanders.

A Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters official said, "We expect this training to contribute to improving the command capabilities of on-site disaster response commanders," and added, "We will continue to do our best to strengthen disaster response capabilities such as large-scale fires through continuous education and training."
