[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] The Gimhae City Flower Retailers Association in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it held its inaugural launch ceremony at the Merciang Wedding Buffet in Naedong, Gimhae City.
The association consists of 50 flower retailers active in the Gimhae area. At the launch ceremony, they began their first official activity by donating 1 million won in neighbor-helping funds to Gimhae City.
Chairperson Jo Young-sook said, "Due to COVID-19, the damage and difficulties faced by flower retailers in Gimhae City are significant, but to sincerely support neighbors who are experiencing even greater hardships, we reduced event expenses and donated funds through members' contributions."
At the launch ceremony, about 30 new objet basket-style wreaths were showcased. After the event, a performance was held where flower baskets were gifted again to the guests. Association members hoped that the beautiful basket wreaths, introduced for the first time in Gimhae, would lead to a flower consumption promotion movement in Gimhae City, which accounts for 13% of the nation's cut flower production.
Mayor Heo Seong-gon of Gimhae City said, "I am truly grateful that the association's first step was to donate funds to neighbors struggling due to COVID-19. We will strive to establish a flower consumption culture and promote floral culture," wishing for the unity and development of the flower retailers.
