Payment with Incheon e-eum Card, Usable Until December This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is the first in the nation to implement the 'Hyodream Welfare Card' project for vulnerable elderly citizens.
The city announced on the 8th that it will introduce the Hyodream Welfare Card project, which provides 80,000 KRW once a year to basic livelihood recipients and near-poverty groups aged 75 and older, with applications accepted starting from the 10th.
Approximately 41,000 people are eligible for support, and the 80,000 KRW will be provided via prepaid charging on the local currency Incheon e-eum Card.
The Hyodream Welfare Card is a pledge project of Mayor Park Namchun of Incheon, aimed at improving the quality of life for vulnerable elderly citizens.
Originally planned to be implemented on October 2nd this year to commemorate 'Hyo Day,' the project was advanced to provide assistance to vulnerable elderly citizens amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The Hyodream Welfare Card can be applied for at the local administrative welfare centers from the 10th to September 29th and can be issued immediately, with usage available starting two days after issuance. The usage period is until December 31st of this year.
Seo Jaehee, head of the Elderly Policy Division of Incheon City, said, "In these difficult times due to COVID-19, we hope the Hyodream Welfare Card will be of help especially to the more vulnerable elderly," and added, "We will continue to promote various policies to ensure a stable old age for our seniors."
