[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 8th that Lee Seung-guk, General Affairs Director of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Comprehensive Construction Headquarters, has been appointed as the new Deputy Mayor of Dong-gu.
Lee Seung-guk, the new Deputy Mayor, who is from Haenam, Jeollanam-do, passed the level 7 public service exam and began his public service career in June 1992 in Buk-gu, Gwangju.
After transferring to Gwangju Metropolitan City, he was selected as the personnel officer, a key core position, through the first internal position recruitment since the office opened in 2017. He then served as the head of the Construction Administration Division of Gwangju City and General Affairs Director of the Comprehensive Construction Headquarters before being appointed as Deputy Mayor of Dong-gu in the regular personnel reshuffle this first half of the year.
Deputy Mayor Lee, who has a gentle leadership style, is highly trusted by colleagues and senior and junior public officials, and is evaluated as possessing excellent work ability and sincerity.
Deputy Mayor Lee Seung-guk said, “I am honored to work in Dong-gu, the ancestral home of Gwangju,” and added, “I will become a catalyst for the leap to a ‘culture-centered autonomous district’ together with about 800 public officials.”
