[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Uplus is focusing on network quality management through automation technology using robots.
LG Uplus announced on the 8th that it is utilizing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions as part of its Digital Transformation (DX). RPA refers to technology that automates simple and repetitive tasks performed by humans through software robots. It can be used to replace tasks such as standardized data comparison, verification, or repetitive office work.
According to LG Uplus, since robots operate according to pre-defined logic, human errors can be prevented and large amounts of data can be processed quickly. Once a task is developed, the robot performs the work at the desired time and, unlike humans, can work 24 hours a day.
Since 2018, LG Uplus's Network (NW) division has been promoting work improvement activities by introducing RPA. Each organization selects a representative to perform RPA tasks, with about 20 dedicated personnel currently active. Approximately 160 tasks have been developed, improving work over 70,000 hours.
Kwack Jun-young, Executive Director in charge of NW PI at LG Uplus, said, "As RPA has established itself as a pillar of work automation, the time saved has allowed us to focus on network quality management. We will lead changes in work methods to further expand RPA within the company so that we can concentrate on core tasks that enhance customer value."
