Applications Open Until the 20th, Targeting Small Business Owners with Fewer Than 10 Employees
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] Jeonju City, Jeollabuk-do, is stepping up to support social insurance premiums to create a city without layoffs.
On the 7th, the city announced that it will accept applications for the 2nd quarter (April to June) social insurance premium support project for small business sites with fewer than 10 employees participating in the government Durunuri program until the 20th.
This social insurance premium support aims to alleviate workers' employment anxiety by supporting the employer's share of social insurance premiums imposed on employed workers in the 2nd quarter.
The eligibility requirements are that the monthly salary must be at least the minimum wage but less than 2.15 million KRW, and the worker must be a regular, temporary, or daily employee enrolled in employment insurance and receiving government Durunuri social insurance support, with employment maintained for more than one month before application.
However, applications are restricted for social enterprises and national/public daycare centers receiving other social insurance premium support from the government, resident representative meetings or management offices, employers listed for wage arrears disclosure, and workplaces that have not paid social insurance premiums by the due date.
For businesses that applied for social insurance premiums in the 1st quarter, only changes such as new hires or resignations need to be applied for. Also, businesses that paid premiums but did not apply can apply retroactively in the next quarter.
A city official from the New Growth Economy Bureau said, “We hope that supporting social insurance premiums will reduce the labor cost burden on business owners and help maintain workers' employment,” adding, “We will do our best to provide policy support that can revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19.”
