A man in his 30s was sentenced to five years in prison in the first trial for threatening a female real estate assistant with a weapon after luring her by pretending to look for a room, robbing her of money and valuables, and sexually assaulting her.

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A man in his 30s was sentenced to five years in prison in the first trial for threatening a female real estate assistant with a weapon, stealing money and valuables, and sexually assaulting her after luring her under the pretense of looking for a room.

The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 11 (Chief Judge Park Joo-young) announced on the 7th that it handed down this verdict to A (39), who was tried for robbery causing injury, violations of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes, and the Labor Standards Act.

The court also ordered A to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and imposed a five-year employment ban at institutions related to children and adolescents.

Earlier, on January 17, A found a one-room rental advertisement posted by B (female, early 40s), a real estate assistant at a certified real estate agency, on a real estate transaction application and requested to see the room.

While inspecting a one-room unit, A said, "There appears to be a leak on the veranda," prompting B to check it, after which A pulled out a prepared weapon.

A threatened B with the weapon, forced her to transfer 500,000 won to his account, and also sexually assaulted her.

Additionally, A was also indicted for failing to pay 32 million won in wages to six workers while running a plumbing installation company.

The court explained the sentencing by stating, "The crimes of robbery causing injury and forced sexual assault were highly premeditated, including luring the assistant to the crime scene. The victim likely suffered significant financial and physical harm, as well as considerable fear and psychological trauma."
