Securing Stable Sales Channels and Farm Management Stability for Producers Through Onion Exports
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam, and Hapcheon Distribution announced on the 7th that they held the first export shipment ceremony for the 2020 onion crop and have officially started exports.
About 10 people attended the export shipment ceremony, including Son Young-jin, director of the Hapcheon Agricultural Technology Center, and Jang Moon-cheol, CEO of Hapcheon Distribution.
The total contracted volume this time is 240 tons, worth 110,000 USD, and the first shipment of onions is 144 tons, worth 66,000 USD, which will be exported to Taiwan through the agricultural corporation Hapcheon Distribution export company.
The county expects that this onion export will greatly contribute to securing stable sales channels for producers and stabilizing farm management amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this year.
In particular, with the quarantine requirements eased from the 1st, rapid export quarantine at the production site is now possible, which is expected to contribute to the revitalization of Hapcheon onion exports to Taiwan.
The director of Hapcheon Agricultural Technology Center said, “We will actively strive to expand onion exports to stabilize the income of onion producers who are facing difficulties in exports due to COVID-19.”
