He stated, “We will prepare effective real estate stabilization measures that protect actual demanders,” and “Along with this, we will also prepare supply measures and financial support plans so that actual demanders such as first-time homebuyers, newlyweds, and youth can easily purchase homes.”
Kim also expressed his intention to complete the follow-up legislation related to real estate within July. He emphasized, “In fact, since the high-intensity measures announced on December 16 last year were not processed in the 20th National Assembly, side effects have occurred in the real estate market,” and “We will promptly handle the follow-up legislation of the December 16 and June 17 measures, as well as other additional legislative tasks needed, in the July National Assembly.”
Cho Jung-sik, chairman of the Democratic Party’s Policy Committee, also said at the meeting that day, “We will consider including additional measures to the previously announced December 16 and June 17 measures,” and “We will propose amendments as quickly as possible and process them within the July National Assembly.”
Cho added, “We will do our best to decisively remove market-disturbing forces this time and create a sound housing market order.”
The Democratic Party has also begun a full survey of multi-homeownership among its members. Park Sung-jun, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, told reporters after the meeting, “The party is currently investigating the housing ownership status of its members,” and “(Regarding follow-up measures) we will accurately review the status and make judgments.” The Democratic Party had previously received a ‘Real Estate Sale Pledge’ during the 21st general election, which included provisions requiring candidates to sell any housing other than their primary residence.
Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Nam-guk also said on MBC Radio’s ‘Kim Jong-bae’s Focus’ that “the party has started a full survey.”
Kim said, “Yesterday (the 6th), we immediately began checking the real estate status held by party lawmakers,” and “I also asked them to bring their real estate contracts around 5:50 a.m. today.”
Regarding guidelines after the full survey, he added, “No guidelines have been issued yet,” and “I think there will be internal discussions within the party regarding the period.”
