Dong-A Otsuka Enters eSports Market... 'Oronamin C Hearthstone Heroes Championship' Season 1 Held


[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Dong-A Otsuka's Oronamin C is entering the eSports market as the first vitamin drink to do so.


Dong-A Otsuka announced on the 7th that it will hold the "Oronamin C Hearthstone Heroes Championship" Season 1 starting from the 8th.


A total of 142 teams applied for Season 1 Phase 1, which closed the day before, showing strong interest in this tournament.


The total prize money for this tournament is 50 million KRW, and Season 1 will be held from the 8th to September 16, consisting of two phases?amateur matches and pro matches?and playoffs.


The match format is a 3-on-3 team match with a winning streak system where the round winner advances to the next round. Team points are tallied through the tournament, and the top 4 teams advance to the playoffs to compete.


The 8 teams that win the amateur matches advance to the pro matches. In the pro matches, a total of 16 teams, including 8 invited pro teams (Cloud 9, Afreeca Freecs, Charon, LAVEGA, HMH, Randium, GAMJATANG, Pokgansle), will compete for the playoffs held this September.


Season 1 Phase 1 amateur and pro matches will be held from the 8th to the 30th, every Wednesday and Thursday, with each match lasting 2 weeks for a total of 4 weeks.


Phase 1 pro matches will be broadcast live at 6 PM on the official Hearthstone Twitch channel on the 22nd, 23rd, 29th, and 30th.


The broadcast will feature popular game caster Shim Ji-soo and well-known Hearthstone streamers and commentators Kim Mu-gi-hoon and Leniawer. Detailed information and schedules for the tournament can be found on the Blizzard Hearthstone official website blog.
