[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 7th that it will extend the period of administrative measures restricting and prohibiting gatherings for door-to-door sales businesses until the 19th.

Previously, the province had imposed the same administrative measures on door-to-door sales businesses within the jurisdiction for two weeks starting from the 18th of last month.

However, considering the continuous occurrence of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) related to door-to-door sales businesses recently, the province explained that the period of gathering restrictions and prohibitions will be extended. There is also a possibility of further extension depending on the situation after the 19th.

The industries subject to gathering restrictions and prohibitions include ▲2 multi-level marketing businesses ▲702 door-to-door sales businesses ▲163 sponsor door-to-door sales businesses, totaling 867 businesses, while telemarketing sales businesses are excluded from the target.

During the gathering restriction and prohibition period, each business in the target industries is prohibited from holding product presentations, training sessions, recreational activities, and other gatherings. Additionally, business owners, sellers, and users are required to comply with quarantine rules regarding gathering restrictions and the operation and use of the target facilities.

Businesses and users who do not comply with the administrative measures may be immediately subject to gathering bans and prosecution by the mayor or county governor, and if confirmed cases occur due to non-compliance with the administrative measures, the province’s policy is to claim (subrogation rights) the costs incurred for hospitalization, treatment, and quarantine expenses.

A provincial official said, “As infections related to door-to-door sales have spread nationwide, confirmed cases related to this have continued to occur within the province,” and added, “We ask the industry to actively cooperate with this measure to prevent community spread and protect the health and safety of residents.”
