Goseong County Governor "Efforts to Resolve Chronic Complaints from Residents' Perspective"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Baek Doo-hyun, mayor of Goseong County, Gyeongnam, self-assessed that "Goseong County administration has changed over the past two years to the extent that visitors to the mayor's office who came feeling uncomfortable now leave feeling good."

Mayor Baek delivered a "Message on the 2nd Anniversary of Inauguration" on the afternoon of the 6th at the county office meeting room.

Considering the emphasis on non-face-to-face communication due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), he conducted the announcement alone via internal broadcasting and internet live streaming.

Mayor Baek said, "We have changed by making efforts to solve chronic civil complaints that could not be resolved by previous administrations, standing on the side of the residents and addressing issues from the residents' perspective."

He cited as examples of the changed Goseong County administration the immediate formation of a planning team by public officials to carry out containment activities during the liquid fertilizer leakage accident, prevention of indiscriminate proliferation of solar power generation facilities and fisheries facilities through ordinance amendments, and the establishment of standards and procedures for agricultural subsidy support.

Mayor Baek also mentioned the implementation of the first-ever town mayor recommendation system in Gyeongnam's cities and counties to realize grassroots democracy, the selection of 48 public contest projects in 2019, and the operation of the administrative council for the same living area including Goseong, Tongyeong, and Geoje as achievements during his two years in office.
