Woori Technology Begins Commercial Operation of Vertical Screen Doors in France

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] The vertical screen doors developed by Woori Technology have officially begun operation in France, marking the start of a full-scale global market expansion.

Woori Technology announced on the 6th that the vertical screen doors supplied to France’s “SNCF” (Soci?t? Nationale des Chemins de fer Fran?ais) have completed installation and pilot operation and have commenced commercial operation.

The French National Railway Company, established in 1938 by merging five private railway companies operating railways in France at the time, is the operator of the high-speed train “TGV.”

Woori Technology has conducted a pilot project for the installation and operation of vertical screen doors at the Paris N Line’s “Vanves Malakoff Station.”

The vertical screen doors now in commercial operation are a system that can be commonly applied even when multiple types of railway vehicles with different door locations and intervals operate at a single station. This technology is universally applicable to major railway markets such as Europe and China.

Woori Technology began its railway screen door development project in 2012. Since then, it has been conducting a pilot installation project of vertical screen doors with the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport (TMB) in Spain, and through the “KOBRA Consortium,” a coalition of domestic companies, it is supplying screen doors to 37 stations on lines 1, 2, and 3 of the S?o Paulo Metro in Brazil.

Last year, Woori Technology signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese private railway specialist company “Jiacheng Railway Traffic Safety System Co., Ltd.” (JCI) for the supply of vertical screen doors, and in the first half of this year, it exported the first prototype, making its overseas market entry achievements visible.

A Woori Technology official said, “At the Railway Day ceremony, our vertical screen door technology was recognized, and the company’s developers received commendations from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport,” adding, “This commercial operation externally verifies the stability of the vertical screen doors and will serve as a foothold for broad entry into not only the French but also the European railway markets in the future.”
