Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station Implements Staggered Summer Vacations to Prevent COVID-19 Spread

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Im Jongbok) announced on the 6th that it will stagger the summer vacations of its employees to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the summer vacation season.

This measure comes amid concerns about the spread of community infections, as multiple small-scale cluster infections continue to occur, including confirmed cases among preschool children and elementary school students in the Gwangju area.

Gwangsan Fire Station has extended the vacation period by 3 weeks compared to last year to ensure that employees' summer vacations are evenly distributed, and will operate the vacation usage rate by department at 11% per week and 15% or less per day.

However, due to the nature of the work, in unavoidable cases, it plans to operate flexibly within a 1% range of the recommended vacation usage rate.

Also, as the quarantine response system in Gwangju Metropolitan City was raised to social distancing level 2, special training was conducted for all employees of Gwangsan Fire Station to practice intensive social distancing.

Chief Im Jongbok said, “We will do our utmost to prevent the spread of COVID-19 community infections through customized summer vacations that reduce vacation use during the peak summer season and increase vacation use during the off-season.”
