[Asia Economy, reporter Lee Jieun] Representative Cho Kyungtae of the United Future Party stated, "In the case of Ms. Yoon Mihyang's incident, there is no reason not to accept a parliamentary investigation or a special prosecutor," expressing his intention to pressure the ruling party through parliamentary investigations into major issues.

On July 6, appearing on KBS Radio's "Kim Kyungrae's Strongest Current Affairs," Representative Cho said, "If the opposition has previously raised its voice outside the parliament, now it is more desirable to fight within the parliament. There seem to be many opinions supporting this approach," explaining his stance.

He added, "The opposition also plans to thoroughly examine the North Korea policy, and if the ruling party truly wants to reveal the truth about the collusion between prosecutors and the media, there is no reason for them to refuse the opposition's demand for a parliamentary investigation or a special prosecutor. Even for the sake of restoring parliamentary democracy, the ruling party should not try to neutralize the opposition's checks and balances. The public will no longer tolerate such actions."

Regarding the possible impeachment motion against Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae, Representative Cho said, "We are still considering it," and added, "I hope Minister Choo herself will no longer display actions that appear to be taming the prosecution as the head of the ministry."

Regarding the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), which is legally required to be established by July 15, he stated, "I still do not understand why the CIO needs to be created," and added, "Establishing another power structure on top of the existing one to further consolidate power is not a desirable approach."

He continued, "Even now, the prosecution, which is doing a good job, is being pressured and persecuted. Creating the CIO is an attempt to wield power at their own discretion," and emphasized, "If we come to power, we will definitely abolish both the CIO and the mixed-member proportional representation system."
