Establishing Non-Face-to-Face Volunteer Activity Areas in Preparation for the Post-Corona Era

Recruiting Family Volunteer Group for Dongdaemun-gu Volunteer Center's 'No Trash Project'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yu Deok-yeol) Volunteer Center is recruiting family volunteer groups to promote the 'No Trash Project' in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

The family volunteer groups will become the main participants in operating the Family Volunteer Group Laboratory (Lab), where they create and carry out their own missions under the theme of 'No Trash Project to Save the Earth.'

The recruitment target is 15 families with elementary school children in the area, selecting about 60 people in total. They will plan and carry out experimental projects to solve the increasing waste problem.

An official from the district stated, “Previously, participation was passive, only joining programs prepared by the Volunteer Center, but the Family Volunteer Group Laboratory (Lab) is a new type of volunteer work where families lead from planning to execution.”

The recruitment period is from July 3 to 17, and the selected family volunteer groups will start with an online workshop at 10 a.m. on the 25th, carry out the project for about two months, share their activities online, and encourage voluntary participation from many residents.

Detailed information about the family volunteer group recruitment can be found on the Dongdaemun-gu website, and inquiries and applications can be made to the Welfare Policy Division of Dongdaemun-gu Office.

Yu Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “In preparation for the post-COVID era, we are recruiting family volunteer groups to lead the transition to expanding volunteer activities into non-face-to-face areas,” adding, “We hope many families participate in the family volunteer groups, convey the message of loving the Earth, and form a healthy family culture through volunteering at home.”
