Ulsan City Completes Illegal Air Light Repairs ... 2,863 Cases Voluntarily and Forcibly Removed
Ulsan City Hall. Ulsan City has completed a major cleanup operation of balloon signs that occupied the streets.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 'Air Light (balloon signboard)' that used to block the way and inflate like a balloon to guide people has disappeared from the streets of Ulsan. As many as 2,800 have vanished this year.
The Ulsan City recently completed a large-scale cleanup of illegal mobile advertisements, Air Lights, which have been rapidly increasing on sidewalks and roads.
According to Ulsan City on the 6th, Air Lights installed on sidewalks or roadways cause inconvenience to pedestrians, spoil the urban landscape, and obstruct drivers' visibility, leading to traffic accidents.
At the end of last year, Ulsan City conducted a survey on Air Lights along major arterial roads such as Taehwagang Riverside, Wangsaeng-ro in Nam-gu, and Jinjang Myeongchon, as well as in commercial revitalization areas, and began cleanup efforts earlier this year.
However, due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19, Ulsan City has made efforts to minimize complaints by encouraging voluntary removal through sufficient prior publicity and guidance over the past three months.
As a result of active prior publicity and guidance by Ulsan City and district offices, 2,522 cases were voluntarily removed, and the remaining 341 cases were forcibly removed, completing a total of 2,863 Air Light cleanups.
In particular, Nam-gu recorded a high voluntary removal rate through Air Light cleanup linked with an automatic warning transmission system (bomb call) throughout the district.
An official from Ulsan City said, “We will work together with district offices to establish a sound advertising culture free of illegal mobile advertisements through continuous management and cleanup.”
