[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Members of the United Future Party pointed out that Moon Joon-yong, son of President Moon Jae-in, made a multi-billion won capital gain by selling an apartment located in Seoul.

Kwack Sang-do, a member of the United Future Party, issued a press release on the 5th stating, "President Moon's son Joon-yong is also a beneficiary of the current government's real estate policy," and claimed, "He made a profit of 230 million won in capital gains by selling the apartment he owned."

According to Representative Kwack, Joon-yong bought an 84㎡ residential-commercial complex apartment called ‘Sindorim Palladium’ located in Guro-gu, Seoul, in April 2014 for 310 million won. Six years later, in January 2020, he resold it for 540 million won, earning a capital gain of 230 million won. Compared to the purchase price, this is a 74% profit.

Representative Kwack said, "According to the certified copy of the register, when Joon-yong bought this apartment in 2014, he took out a loan from Shinhan Bank, and the maximum claim amount on the register was 165 million won." He added, "The son of the sitting president bought real estate with a loan from a bank during the Park Geun-hye administration, but now under the Moon Jae-in government, it has become difficult to buy an apartment with a loan."

Bae Jun-young, spokesperson for the United Future Party, criticized in a statement, "The public clicked their tongues at the government's incompetence, which loudly claimed that real estate prices would stabilize but instead caused house prices to skyrocket," and "They were angry at the hypocrisy of those who benefited from rising house prices while owning multiple homes."

Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju, also wrote on Facebook, "Noh Young-min, Chief Secretary, was the person who strongly ordered Blue House aides who owned multiple homes to sell all but one. Even the 586 generation from the activist group is obsessed with apartments in Gangnam," adding, "They are more obsessed with money than ideology."

Governor Won stated, "The signal of ‘Gangnam's invincibility’ came from the core of the regime," and declared, "I will not become a politician who owns an apartment in Gangnam."
