[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Choe Son-hui, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea, stated on the 4th, "There is no need to sit down with the United States, which only regards North Korea-US talks as a tool to handle their political crisis."
In a statement released that day, Vice Minister Choe responded to the recent speculation about the possibility of a North Korea-US summit before the US presidential election in November, saying, "I cannot help but be astonished by the publicizing of summit talks that ignore the current reality of North Korea-US relations."
She continued, "If the United States still thinks it can shake us through negotiations or something similar, it is a miscalculation," adding, "We have already devised a more concrete strategic calculation to manage the long-term threat from the United States."
