Heo Gung-hee Elected as Chairman of Wando County Council for the Second Half Term

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Heo Gung-hee, a member of the Democratic Party representing the Da electoral district, was elected as the chairman of the 8th term second half of the Wando County Council in Jeollanam-do.

The Wando County Council held the 282nd extraordinary session on the 3rd and completed the organization of the second half by electing Heo as chairman.

Among the 9 council members, Heo Gung-hee was elected chairman by receiving 5 out of 9 votes in a papal election-style voting process.

Park Jae-seon, a council member from Nohwa-eup, was elected as vice chairman. In the elections for each standing committee chair, Lee Beom-seong was elected chairman of the Council Operations Committee, Kim Yang-hoon as chairman of the Administrative Autonomy Committee, and Kim Jae-hong as chairman of the Industry and Construction Committee, leading the second half of the 8th Wando County Council.

Newly elected chairman Heo Gung-hee said, “Rather than the joy of being elected, I feel a heavy responsibility on my shoulders as I have inherited the important task of what and how our council will serve the residents,” adding, “I will spare no effort to support and cooperate so that each council member’s capabilities can be maximized through the diverse experiences of my fellow members.”

He also expressed his thoughts, saying, “Based on communication and harmony among fellow council members, I will continuously strive to establish a council that opens the future together with the residents.”

Heo Gung-hee, originally from Sinji-myeon, Wando, served as vice chairman in the first half of the 8th Wando County Council. He has also held positions such as auditor of the Korea Flatfish Aquaculture Association, chairman of the Marine Healthcare Sinji-myeon Promotion Council, director of the Barugesalgi Wando County Association, Haenam District Legal Love Committee member of the Ministry of Justice, and president of the Sinji-myeon Prosperity Association.
