[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A(38), who is accused of purchasing sexual exploitation materials in the Telegram 'Nth Room,' was handed over to the prosecution on the 3rd.
The Gangwon Provincial Police Agency sent A to the prosecution at around 5:30 p.m. on the same day on charges including violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse. A, who had been detained at the Chuncheon Police Station detention center, was transferred to the Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office and appeared outside.
According to the initial decision of the Personal Information Disclosure Committee, A's name and face were scheduled to be disclosed upon transfer to the prosecution on this day. However, as the court's decision on the 'injunction to suspend the execution of personal information disclosure' that he applied for was delayed, he was transferred to the prosecution wearing a mask and hat without separate disclosure of personal information. Shortly after A was transferred, the court ruled to grant the injunction to suspend the execution of personal information disclosure.
When asked by reporters, "Do you admit to the criminal charges?" A began by saying, "I am sorry to the victims." He repeated his apology in response to further questions but denied other sexual crime charges such as sexual assault, saying, "That is not the case," and added, "I am reflecting on whether there are any wrongdoings I am unaware of."
The Gangwon Provincial Police Agency held a Personal Information Disclosure Committee on the 1st and decided to disclose the personal information of A, who was arrested on charges including violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse. The police judged that A committed serious crimes, including purchasing sexual exploitation materials and producing illegal recordings and sexual exploitation materials, and decided to disclose his personal information. This was the first case where personal information disclosure was decided for a purchaser of sexual exploitation materials.
However, A filed an injunction to cancel the personal information disclosure decision through his lawyer, and the Chuncheon District Court Administrative Division 1 (Chief Judge Jo Jeong-rae) granted it on the same day, resulting in the failure of the personal information disclosure.
A is accused of purchasing sexual exploitation materials from Shin Mo (32), nicknamed 'Kelly,' who took over the Nth Room from the Nth Room operator 'GodGod' Moon Hyung-wook (24).
He is also charged with illegal filming from September 2014 to March of this year and producing sexual exploitation materials or committing sexual crimes against eight children and juveniles. A is known to have committed these crimes alone and did not separately distribute illegal recordings or sexual exploitation materials.
The police detected these circumstances during the analysis of A's PC, which was seized. The police applied six charges against A, including violations of the Youth Protection Act, Child Welfare Act, and Sexual Violence Punishment Act.
Meanwhile, regarding the Nth Room and Doctor's Room cases, personal information disclosure decisions have been made for a total of five people so far, including Moon, the first creator of the Nth Room, 'Doctor's Room' operator Jo Joo-bin (24), his accomplice 'BooTta' Kang Hoon (18), 'Igya' Lee Won-ho (19), and Moon's accomplice Ahn Seung-jin (25).
