[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 3rd, the United Future Party and the People’s Party submitted a resolution urging the prohibition of oppression against Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and the fair performance of duties by Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae.

Kim Seong-won, Senior Deputy Floor Leader of the United Future Party, and Kwon Eun-hee, Floor Leader of the People’s Party, submitted the resolution containing these contents to the National Assembly Secretariat in the afternoon.

They criticized, "Minister Chu is abusing her personnel authority to obstruct investigations into the living power and abusing her command authority to force Prosecutor General Yoon to resign, thereby neutralizing the Prosecutor General."

This resolution was proposed and promoted by Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, on the 22nd of last month, and all members of the United Future Party and the People’s Party signed their names.

The United Future Party, the People’s Party, and four independent lawmakers formerly of the United Future Party, including Hong Joon-pyo, plan to submit an impeachment motion against Minister Chu as well. Senior Deputy Floor Leader Kim stated, "(The impeachment motion) must be voted on within 72 hours after 24 hours according to Article 103 of the National Assembly Act," and added, "We will submit the impeachment motion against Minister Chu within next week."
