[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the afternoon of the 3rd that it will release a statement regarding the disposal of real estate by multiple homeowners within the party. This move came as the controversy over multiple homeownership among senior Blue House officials intensified the day before, prompting the party to take its own measures. Although the Democratic Party had previously obtained a ‘one household, one home’ pledge from candidates running in the April 15 general election, there have still been multiple-homeowner lawmakers, leading to criticism that the pledge was not effectively upheld.
Heo Yoonjung, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, told reporters after the Supreme Council meeting that morning, “There is a concrete plan on how to proceed regarding (multiple homeowners within the party).”
Spokesperson Heo added, “There is a plan detailing by when the homes must be disposed of and other specific measures,” and “a written report has also been submitted.”
She continued, “There is an internal party plan, but due to extended discussions on other agenda items during today’s Supreme Council meeting, it was not addressed,” and “a briefing is scheduled for the afternoon.”
