GS25 Launches 'Half-Price' Unlimited Data and Calls Plan

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS25 announced on the 3rd that it will launch two types of GS25 Unlimited Plans, the first in the industry to offer unlimited voice calls and data usage starting this month.

The GS25 Unlimited Plans consist of two types: 'Data Call Unlimited PRO Plan' and 'Data Call Unlimited Plan.'

The Data Call Unlimited PRO Plan offers unlimited voice calls and data usage for a monthly fee of 39,740 KRW. The Data Call Unlimited Plan provides unlimited voice calls and up to 11GB of data per month for 33,000 KRW (with an additional 2GB provided daily after the 11GB is used up).

GS25 operates a total of six budget mobile communication plans in partnership with U+ Altteul Mobile Media Log (a budget phone operator).

The monthly fees for the six GS25 plans range from 7,700 KRW to 39,740 KRW, which is about half the price compared to similar services from the three major mobile carriers. Additionally, users can keep their existing phone numbers, and there are no mandatory contract periods or cancellation penalties, with over 150,000 users currently subscribed.

GS25 plans can be used by purchasing a postpaid USIM card (8,800 KRW) at GS25, inserting it into a smartphone, and applying for activation. The activation process is simple, requiring identity verification through U+ Altteul Mobile’s activation center or website, and is completed within an hour on weekdays.

New subscriptions and number porting are both available, and if a minor applies for activation, guardian identity verification is required.

Kim Sanghyun, MD in charge of service products at GS Retail, explained, “The GS25 plans are GS25’s representative half-price service products that have surprised the industry by surpassing 150,000 subscribers through voluntary recommendations by users as rational consumption trends spread.”
