[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Choi Hyung-doo, the floor spokesperson of the United Future Party, countered Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon's remark that "the United Future Party should also dispose of multiple homes" by saying, "Please say the same thing to the Democratic Party of Korea."
On the 3rd, during CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' Choi, who was the daily anchor that day, responded to Mayor Park's comment that "I understand that the United Future Party has far more multiple homeowners" by saying, "Please fact-check accurately. It is much less," and made this statement.
When Mayor Park asked, "Even if it's less, do you plan to dispose of them?" Choi pointed out the "double standards of the Blue House and the ruling party," and retorted, "The chiefs and directors at the Blue House all have seen their house prices rise tremendously." He added, "It's been 1 to 2 years since the call to dispose of them came out, so what have they done until now?"
When Mayor Park replied, "Double standards aside, I hope both sides keep their promises. Since the Blue House has instructed to dispose of them, I hope the United Future Party follows suit," Floor Spokesperson Choi said, "I hope you strongly convey the same message you gave to the mayor directly to the Democratic Party."
The two sides also exchanged heated words regarding parliamentary struggles. In the interview that day, when Choi said, "We will share with the public what we are worried about regarding the Democratic Party's unilateral actions. We will use every podium in the National Assembly," Mayor Park responded, "Using the podium is fine, but I hope there won't be incidents like pushing in with crowbars as before."
Choi rebutted, "The crowbars were used by the Democratic Party," and Mayor Park countered, "At that time, it was Floor Leader Na Kyung-won who used them," leading to a dispute over the facts.
Meanwhile, Mayor Park also requested Choi, who criticized the government's real estate policy, to support Seoul City's 'rent freeze' plan. Mayor Park said, "To stabilize tenants' lives, the problem is that rents are rising too fast and too much. However, this can be regulated, and even in countries like Germany, where the market economy is most developed, such measures are in place. The real issue is that there is no such law here. In fact, Seoul City has already proposed this to the National Assembly, and it would be good if the United Future Party could support it as a party stance."
