[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Samsung Compliance Committee will hold a workshop later this month attended by compliance officers from seven Samsung affiliates.
On the 2nd, the Compliance Committee held a regular meeting at Samsung Seocho Tower in Seoul and announced that it decided to hold a workshop to strengthen communication and share opinions between the compliance committee members and the compliance teams of the seven affiliates.
The affiliates that have signed a business agreement with the Compliance Committee are Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDI, Samsung SDS, Samsung C&T, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance.
The workshop will be held on the 22nd of this month at the Samsung Human Resources Development Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, with committee members and compliance support and monitoring personnel, as well as practical managers from the seven affiliates including Samsung Electronics attending. The program will consist of topic-based discussions and lectures by external experts.
Meanwhile, Seong In-hee, head of social contribution affairs and the newly appointed internal member from Samsung on the Compliance Committee last month, attended the meeting for the first time on this day. Previously, Lee In-yong, president of Samsung Electronics, resigned from the committee on the 5th of last month, stating he would focus on social contribution work.
The Compliance Committee is an independent organization launched earlier this year following the recommendation of the retrial court in the state affairs manipulation case involving Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong. Currently, Kim Ji-hyung, representative lawyer of the law firm Jipyung (former Supreme Court justice), leads the Compliance Committee as its chairman.
