[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea East-West Power has taken measures to ensure trouble-free equipment operation during the summer season in collaboration with maintenance partners.

On the 2nd, East-West Power held a meeting at its headquarters in Jung-gu, Ulsan, focusing on securing maintenance quality and strengthening work safety during the power supply and demand countermeasure period.

The power supply and demand countermeasure period is from the 6th of this month to September 18.

Executives from six maintenance partner companies, including KEPCO KPS, attended the meeting.

The attendees reviewed the status of equipment operation in the first half of this year.

They discussed future maintenance quality, safety management, and measures to prevent maintenance gaps due to COVID-19.

Since summer temperatures are expected to be 0.5 to 1.5 degrees higher than average, with 20 to 25 days of heatwaves exceeding 33 degrees Celsius?about 13.3 days more than last year?they discussed plans to prepare for the surge in electricity demand.

Additionally, in preparation for the recent resurgence of COVID-19, they agreed to thoroughly implement quarantine measures for all workers, including maintenance partner employees and short-term workers temporarily entering the power plants.

They reviewed specific implementation plans to prevent maintenance work gaps in case of confirmed or suspected cases.

Lee Seunghyun, Head of Safety Technology at East-West Power, said, "We appreciate the hard work of our maintenance partners who operate equipment stably amid various changes in the power market environment. We will do our best to strengthen the cooperation system between power plants and maintenance companies to ensure that there is no inconvenience to the public due to unstable power supply this summer."

A representative from a maintenance partner company stated, "Beyond repairing faulty equipment, we will contribute to stable equipment operation by consulting on optimal equipment management methods and providing professional maintenance services."
