[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Public Procurement Service announced on the 2nd that it will apply Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology to some standardized and simple repetitive procurement tasks.
RPA refers to a function where robots automatically perform tasks. The Public Procurement Service plans to use this to increase work productivity within the organization.
Earlier, to introduce RPA, the Public Procurement Service reviewed the applicability for major tasks starting in February, identifying 16 unit tasks, and compared and verified domestic and international automation programs for some of these tasks.
As a result, in pilot applications for tasks such as managing compliance with preferential price maintenance obligations under multiple supplier contracts and preparing procurement statistics, it was confirmed that the processing time was reduced by about half compared to before.
Based on the accumulated comparison and verification results from the ongoing process, the Public Procurement Service plans to continuously expand RPA application to other tasks such as notifying the validity period of direct production confirmation certificates and preparing bid status data.
Baek Seung-bo, Director of the Procurement Management Bureau, said, “By applying RPA to some tasks of the Public Procurement Service, employees are expected to focus their capabilities on tasks that require creativity or have high added value,” and added, “The Public Procurement Service will actively utilize RPA to help improve internal organizational work efficiency and enhance services for ordering agencies and procurement companies.”
