[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] On the morning of the 2nd, Hanjin-hyun, Vice Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), met with Xing Haiming, Chinese Ambassador to Korea, to convey the difficulties faced by Korean companies regarding the 'Korea-China Business Rapid Passage' and requested active resolution.
Since May 1st, the Trade Association has been operating the Korea-China Business Rapid Passage in cooperation with the Korean government. When Korean companies experienced difficulties in applying for and using the rapid passage, Chairman Kim Young-joo sent a letter to the Chinese Embassy on the 12th of the same month requesting the resolution of these issues.
On this day, after two months of implementation, Vice Chairman Hanjin-hyun personally met with Ambassador Xing Haiming to gather the difficulties faced by companies using the system and delivered a letter requesting the resolution of these issues.
The main difficulties included increased time and cost burdens due to prolonged closed management allowing movement only via designated vehicles on designated routes (hotel↔factory/company), limited issuance of invitation letters, and requirements for negative COVID-19 test certificates from the application stage for invitation letters in some regions of China.
