[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Hwasun Office of Education announced on the 1st that it sponsored desks and chairs to improve the educational environment of local schools in Rwanda, Africa, on the 29th of last month.

This donation was made in response to a request from the Gwangju Regional Church Medical Mission to sponsor desks and chairs for local schools in Rwanda with poor educational environments. About 85 unused desks and chairs owned by the Hwasun Gifted Education Center were donated.

The donated desks and chairs are scheduled to be delivered by sea freight to Gospel Kindergarten and Elementary School in Kigali, Rwanda, located on the opposite side of the globe in Africa.

A mission representative said, “We are grateful that the Hwasun Office of Education, which fosters dignified democratic citizens, readily participated in the donation. The donated desks and chairs will be used so that children in Rwanda, Africa, can nurture big dreams.”

Choi Won-sik, the superintendent of education, said, “Amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the daily stagnant and frozen atmosphere, I felt warmth through this donation of desks and chairs. Although it is a small sharing, I hope it becomes an opportunity to instill great hope in students in Rwanda, Africa.”
