[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will declare the era of ‘Songpa BEST+ Leading Seoul’ on July 1st, marking the 2nd anniversary of the 7th local government, outlining the district administration direction in line with the post-COVID-19 era.

‘BEST+’ represents the direction of Songpa district administration for the second half of the 7th local government. It adds the ambition to open ▲a future industrial city full of jobs (Business City) ▲a lifelong education city where future talents grow (Education City) ▲a premium residential city with safety and high quality of life (Safe City) ▲a cultural tourism city where everyday life becomes art (Travel City) and ▲a communication plus city (+communication City) where all residents participate.

The district plans to go one step further from the 7th local government slogan ‘Songpa Leading Seoul’ by utilizing various social changes caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) as opportunities to lead new development in Songpa.

To this end, the district will promote detailed projects according to five major goals by sector.

First, ‘Songpa, a future industrial city full of jobs’ will implement job policies tailored to local characteristics. In line with large-scale developments such as the Seoul International Exchange Complex District, it will connect job seekers and companies, continuously operate youth networks, and strive to promote job projects desired by young people.

Also, by actively utilizing expanded job infrastructure such as the Songpa-gu Integrated Job Support Center, Songpa ICT Youth Startup Support Center, and Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center, the district plans to create an economic structure where the local economy and jobs circulate positively.

‘Songpa, a lifelong education city where future talents grow’ centers on its own education model ‘Songpa SSEM’. The district will increase the number of base facilities, Songpa Future Education Centers, to seven within this year, complete the Songpa Education Portal, and provide 4th industrial revolution education and customized lifelong education programs by social class.

To create ‘Songpa, a premium residential city with safety and high quality of life’, the district will promote projects that enhance residents’ safety and convenience, such as expanding safe villages and school zones, and building an IoT sensor-based shared parking platform.

Furthermore, it will focus on climate change response by supporting the establishment of the first virtual power plant in a local government and the construction of five sharing power plants.

‘Songpa, a cultural tourism city where everyday life becomes art’ is centered on the creation of the Songpa Dullegil trail and Seokchon Lake cultural space. By connecting the Tancheon course, Songpa Dullegil will become a representative walking tourism route blending waterways and forest paths. The district plans to actively utilize cultural facilities centered on Seokchon Lake, such as the cultural experimental space ‘Hosoo’, the ‘Atelier’ opening in the second half of the year, and the ‘Art Gallery’ to be completed in 2022, to become a hub of culture and arts.

In particular, despite the COVID-19 situation, the district will diversify communication methods through small-scale meetings by social class, a newly revamped district newsletter, and the district’s representative SNS to create ▲‘Songpa, a communication plus city where all residents participate’.

With these contents, the district will hold a ‘Vision Sharing Meeting’ at 4 p.m. on July 1st in the district office auditorium. Mayor Park Seong-su will personally explain the new district administration direction through a presentation and share it with employees via the internal network considering the COVID-19 situation.

The district will operate July 1?10 as an on-site visit week.
