Use One Membership Card to Access All Public Libraries Nationwide
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] The Gyeongnam Office of Education announced on the 30th that starting from the 1st of next month, it will implement the ‘Chaegieum Service,’ which allows library users to access participating libraries nationwide with a single membership card to enhance user convenience.
The Chaegieum Service is a nationwide service operated with the National Library of Korea as the integrated center, allowing anyone to use participating public libraries through membership registration.
The Office of Education expects that the implementation of the Chaegieum Service will reduce the cost of issuing membership cards, increase convenience for public library users, and significantly help reduce additional tasks for librarians. Furthermore, through integrated services connecting participating libraries, regional representative libraries, and the National Library of Korea, it will provide an opportunity to perform advanced user information service.
Jung Hong-gyun, Director of the Creative Talent Division at the Gyeongnam Office of Education, said, “With the implementation of the Chaegieum Service, residents can freely receive library services anywhere nationwide,” adding, “It is expected to improve accessibility to libraries across the country and greatly help bridge the knowledge information gap.”
