Busan Port Authority and 9 Related Organizations Sign Multilateral Agreement on Maritime Safety at Busan Port
A multilateral cooperation system has been established to prevent maritime accidents and enhance safety at Busan Port. On the 26th, nine related organizations and groups signed a non-face-to-face memorandum of understanding.

Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on the 28th that it signed a 'Multilateral MOU for Maritime Safety of Busan Port' with nine related institutions and organizations, including the Busan Maritime Police Agency, to strengthen maritime safety at Busan Port.
This initiative was promoted to establish a mutual cooperation system for preventing maritime accidents and responding promptly in case of accidents.
The main contents of the agreement include the establishment and improvement of policies and systems for maritime accident prevention, cooperation of human and material resources for maritime accident preparedness and response, expanded mutual use of infrastructure owned by each institution and organization, activation of maritime safety content and information exchange, expansion of safety infrastructure, and strengthening cooperation for public promotion.
There are nine institutions and organizations participating in the agreement, meaning all parties related to the management and operation of maritime safety at Busan Port are involved. These include Busan Port Authority, Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, Busan Maritime Police Agency, Busan Branch of the Korea Marine Environment Corporation, Korea Licensed Shipmasters Association, Busan Office of the Korea Shipowners' Association, Busan Pilot Boat Owners Association, Busan Branch of the Korea Maritime Rescue Association, and Busan Port Pilots Association.
The signing ceremony held on the 26th was conducted through non-face-to-face signatures between heads of the respective institutions and organizations without a separate event due to the COVID-19 situation.
Nam Ki-chan, President of Busan Port Authority, said, “With this agreement, we will establish administrative cooperation among related maritime institutions and organizations of Busan Port to perfectly prepare for maritime safety accidents at Busan Port through resource and information exchange.”
